Wes Borland of Black Light Burns
2/7/1975
Aquarius Sun/Capricorn Moon
Wes Borland of Black Light Burns is an Aquarius with Capricorn Moon and Mars. Aquarius/Capricorn is industrious, and prominent individuals from Abe Lincoln to Thomas Edison and Charles Lindbergh shared that pairing of Sun and Moon. Unique, independent, inventive and often an outsider, the Aquarius/Capricorn truly marches to his own drummer, or in this case wails on the guitar. The former guitarist from Limp Biscuit, known for his black contacts and painted face, is recreating himself with Black Light Burns, as frontman, songwriter and manager of his own creative process and career. With the vision of Aquarius and the ambition of Capricorn, Borland moves ahead without the restrictions of being in someone else’s band. This is natural for a strong air/earth sign individual who has the ability to be his own boss and in fact needs that freedom to do things his own way. An Aquarius is a good collaborator when surrounded by like minded people, and Wes now has that community, including Danny Lohner who produced the record Cruel Melody, Josh Freese who played percussion, various other guest players and vocalists, and touring band. With a Capricorn Moon, it’s likely Borland also likes to isolate himself at times. Capricorn Moon means a certain amount of detachment, so having creative friends who move in and out of his world as needed might be the perfect solution for a soul like Wes..
A Capricorn Moon also gives innate work ethic and drive. A personality like Wes’s thrives on productivity and accomplishment. Often, a Capricorn Moon makes for a workaholic or at least someone who isn’t happy unless they’re busy and involved. The Aquarius side of his personality provides the creativity and originality and the Capricorn side makes it all happen. It is a combination of extremes and a very strong, not always personable individual. However, when that physical and mental polarity that can make an Aquarius/ Capricorn difficult even for him self to deal with is channeled into work, he can achieve anything! This Sun/Moon sign individual creates his own opportunities, balances creativity and logic, and breaks new ground. His two-handed tapping guitar technique is a good example of how an Aquarius/Capricorn will approach a conventional thing, in this case a guitar, and give it his own twist. Capricorn appreciates structure while Aquarius bends the rules to create something entirely new.
The Rock Star planet, Mars, also cruised through Capricorn on Wes Borland’s birth date. Mars, ruler of sex, aggression and masculinity, is supremely physical in the sign Capricorn. Adding to the driven nature of the Capricorn Moon, Mars in this sign can be ruthless with determination. Resourcefulness, survival instinct, and desire to build, tear down, and recreate are characteristic of Mars in the zodiac’s most productive, ambitious sign. In his career, Wes’s Capricorn side can get the job done, from stepping into an unfilled slot in From First to Last to providing to acting as a studio musician on other projects. However, his Aquarius Sun has a thirst for self-expression and new discoveries, which will fuel Borland’s new role as vocalist, guitarist and creative genius for his own band, Black Light Burns. As successful as his Limp Biscuit stint was, Wes Borland is more able to use his Aquarius/Capricorn sensibilities while showing the world who he really is with new songs, unique instrumentation, independent business decisions, Aquarius vision, and just a slight nod to the past in Capricorn style.
